TAFT is a charitable trust that has been enriching our people since 1991.
The trust was formed in the early 1990s to present a biennial arts festival. The Taranaki Arts Festival was an instant hit and has gone on to become the longest running regional arts festival in New Zealand.
The three-week event continually features some of the hottest award-winning acts from throughout the globe, as well as showcasing the best talent New Zealand has to offer.
In 2002 TAFT took over the Powerco Taranaki Garden Festival (formerly known as the Rhododendron Festival).
This festival was started in 1988 and today features more than 45 Taranaki gardens and attracts more than 2000 people to the region each spring.
In the same year TAFT was successful in securing the rights to present WOMAD in Taranaki.
WOMAD NZ was presented in Taranaki biennially from 2003 to 2007, before its continued success led to it becoming an annual event.
Today the popular festival has a loyal and passionate following nationwide, enjoys an extensive partnership base, and is approaching its 14th presentation in New Zealand.
