TAFT is looking for a Full-time CREATIVE DESIGNER.

Taranaki Arts Festival Trust (TAFT) present several festivals annually, including WOMAD, The Taranaki Garden Festival and The Taranaki Arts Festival.   

TAFT is one of the longest-running arts organisations in Aotearoa, having presented over 60 festivals since 1991. 

We are a small, highly efficient and dedicated New Plymouth-based team passionate about seeing arts and festivals thrive in our region. 

We’re looking for a Creative Designer who can hit the ground running. This is the perfect break for someone with intermediate experience and the potential to learn and grow with the role.

This visionary has the creative skills to ensure our festival’s brands captivate audiences by providing innovative and high-quality graphic design assets for all festivals and projects that communicate a message faster than words can, ensuring that the messaging is clear, compelling, and always on-brand.  

The design role is pivotal in the creative process, supporting the Marketing Manager with creative communication and designing brand suites for all festivals and projects produced by TAFT.  

Tasks will include a wide range of design, including brand development, digital assets, merchandise, web and app concepts, digital and print promotional artwork, film, photo, video editing and social media content, to name a few.   

The Creative Designer will play a multi transversal role and ensure the office is supported successfully in general festival administration duties.  

This is a support role to the broader team in terms of various duties which will support festival delivery. 

Our ideal candidate will have/be: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in graphic design, media arts, and visual communication, preferably with some industry experience. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Mailchimp, social media and video editing (Final cut pro or Adobe Premiere Pro). 
  • The physical ability to deal with a busy, pressured work environment and creativity needs to balance time pressures. 
  • Up to date with tech and industry digital and design trends, looking for opportunities to expand the brands’ visibility through platforms or programs. 
  • A passion for digital creative communications and thinking beyond just the design on the screen. 
  • A friendly, outgoing personality with a can-do attitude who can work with a small and dedicated team.
  • A proven interest in the arts, entertainment, events, and festivals will be highly desirable. 


Salary: Between $55k and $62k,  negotiable based on experience.
