Paepae
Since 2003 WOMAD NZ has been committed to promoting the uniqueness of Aotearoa to an international audience, as a result of the desire Paepae was born and still remains as a strong point of identity for WOMAD NZ.
The WOMAD philosophy of the importance that music and dance play towards a healthy mind and body incorporated with the Maori health holistic healing philosophies are a good fit.
At regular times during the WOMAD festival there will be opportunities to formally welcome our visitors into the space with a powhiri (welcome).
People will be on hand to talk about their role in holistic healing, healthy mind and body. There will also be interactive demonstrations and korero about raranga (weaving), mirimiri/rongoa (massage/healing), ta moko (body tattooing) and kapa haka (traditional music and dance).
