Toninho Ferragutti and Bebê Kramer - Brazil
Toninho Ferragutti and Bebê Kramer are two extraordinary virtuoso accordionists whose performances are unique musical journeys which traverse from the South to the Northeast of Brazil.
Toninho Ferragutti was born in the small town of Socorro, and now lives in Sao Paulo. Bebê Kramer was born in another small town, Vacaria, and now lives in the city of Rio de Janeiro. At the beginning of 2011, the duo was born when they brought together a repertoire of contemporary music written for the
accordion.
In the northeast of Brazil - where the accordion is known as sanfona -, the instrument gave rise to a new rhythm: the forró, and another very popular rhythm, the baião. In the south of the country, the accordion is best known as harmônica and became very popular in all parties and dances pioneering of gaúcha music: vanerões, chamamés, mazurkas, milongas - all typical rhythms of the Southern
music.
Toninho Ferragutti and Bebe Kramer beautifully mix north and south, country and urban, density and lightness, tradition and innovation, in a contemporary concert which draws from Brazil’s rich and diverse musical styles.
