Garden Categories
Gardens in Development
We have continued with the very popular festival category Gardens in Development. The aim of this is to foster and nurture up and coming gardens of any size, age or style keen to not only be festival gardens, but to also reach standards of excellence.
We believe you will enjoy seeing these two gardens develop over the year into gardens of true quality, in line with all our festival gardens.

Garden Assessments
All festival gardens have been assessed. Every garden goes through this process on a three yearly cycle.
New Zealand Gardens Trust
The New Zealand Gardens Trust, an initiative of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, provides an independent assessment of New Zealand gardens.
You will note that some gardens in our festival have chosen to be assessed by the Trust as well as being assessed by the festival’s own assessment process.
These gardens can be identified by the placement of the NZGT logos reflecting either a Garden of Significance, National or International Significance.
