Landscape Design Project
Wandering Willow Elephants
The 26th festival’s Landscape Design Project is pegged to inspire and delight not only the garden enthusiasts but the whole family. Supported with funding from the TSB Community Trust, a towering family of Willow Elephants, herded all the way from Suffolk in the United Kingdom will graze the plains and suburban jungles of the Taranaki region for the duration of the festival.
Crafted from willow and expertly weaved over custom made steel frames, these detailed and remarkably lifelike sculptures will be embarking on a guerrilla mission, travelling to different locations throughout Taranaki over the ten day festival before finding a permanent local location.
Artist and designer, Steve Manning of Suffolk has built up an impenetrable reputation, with a client base that includes the exquisite Hyde Park in London and Clarence House. His designs have travelled across the globe including Europe and the US, but this is the first time they will be touching down on New Zealand soil.
Be sure to join the hunt to scout out and admire their towering forms! For location details tune into Classic Hits or check our website www.gardenfestnz.co.nz
