Pukekura Park Fernery

Love the view of the stunning native fern collection, colourful coleus and other exotic tropical foliage plants, a diverse collection of elegant orchids and an extensive range of plants in potted culture. Free daily guided tours of the Fernery and Display Houses will cover the history, background and plant collections of this serene and beautiful haven. Open every day from 8.30am to 4pm.

Pukekura Park

Join the Pukekura Park staff on a guided walk through New Plymouth’s Premier Park. Learn about its history as you view the spectacular rhododendrons and visit the many dells. With your guide you will explore hidden corners of one of New Zealand’s most significant public gardens. A  truly wonderful walk featuring many fascinating and interesting plants, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Please wear suitable walking shoes and a medium level of fitness is required. The event will proceed wet or fine.

Tupare Guided Walk

Take a guided walk with Tupare Garden Manager Mitch Graham highlighting the trees which are the essence of Tupare. This will include some of the original trees, their placement and health, as well as more recent plantings. Mitch will discuss the active management of Tupare Garden which ensures a succession of stately trees.

Tikorangi Guided Walk

With the first plantings going back as far as 1880 and well over sixty years of intensive gardening, Tikorangi has many stories to be told and many rare and special plants. Join Abbie or Mark Jury on a personally guided tour of the place they call home.
